The CP Supervisor is responsible for providing the necessary supervisory and technical support in the delivery of Construction work (replacement, reinforcements, diversions, new connections etc.) activities. You will be responsible for ensuring that all workloads, maximised outputs are achieved, whilst reducing costs by effectively managing all resources.


Health & Safety

  • Carry out direct supervision of operatives ensuring works are carried out in a safe, compliant, effective and efficient manner
  • Undertake Competent Person (CP) duties when required. Including the preparation and approval of R.O documents
  • Continually monitor operative’s performance and foster a culture of team working and safety, creating a culture of zero tolerance of safety and compliance breaches and working towards safety and customer excellence, working injury free
  • Ensure operatives carry out works to NRSWA Code of Practice, and complete any site specific risk assessments in relation to the works
  • Ensure operatives possess the correct qualifications and competencies to allow them to undertake the relevant work activities they are employed to do
  • Ensure effective and appropriate planning takes place to ensure optimum competent resource (operatives, plant, etc) is available for the workload
  • Ensure formal site audits are carried out in accordance with KLT/client requirements in mind
  • Ensure that communications are delivered effectively so that operatives have an understanding of KLT/Area/personal objectives, standards of service and KLT performance
  • Deliver as appropriate toolbox talks, safety briefings and team briefs
  • Attend and participate in internal management and programming meetings
  • Investigate and resolve customer queries, claims and complaints in an expedient manner
  • Preparation of mains networks for testing
  • Liaison with Reinstatement Department to ensure the efficient and expedient reinstatement of the public and private areas
  • Escalate all matters of concern to the Contract Manager
  • Carry out standby and call out duties if requested


  • Record all data associated with the works ensuring accuracy and to the relevant KLT procedures
  • Ensure Measurement and Record Sheets, or equivalent, are fully completed and returned daily/weekly for all works completed
  • Ensure Incident and Accident Report Forms (internal & INV 1 etc.) are completed and returned within operational timescales


  • Proactively work with customers to ensure KLT offer an excellent customer service, resolving and/or escalating enquiries and complaints
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant local authority representatives and supply chain

General Experience:

  • Previous gas supervisory experience and ability to lead on site and drive performance
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislation, policy and procedures
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes of practice, engineering instructions, safety and statutory regulations
  • Experience in delivering works in a safe and compliant manner
  • Competent to support front line operational staff in technical areas
  • Excellent understanding and commitment on customer focus
  • Basic commercial understanding
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in operations relevant to SCO procedures
  • Experience in approving non-gas permit’s in relation to site works

Qualifications (Essential):

  • Competent Person for routine operations (SCO1, SCO2, SCO5) and Permit to Work
  • Competent Person for all low pressure connections >12″/355mm
  • NRSWA Supervisor qualification
  • Gas Safety Passport
  • Current UK driving licence

Qualifications (Desirable):

  • Deep Excavation qualification
  • Authorising Engineer status
